The bustling halls of Cape Town’s premier conference venue (CTICC) came alive on the 7th and 8th of August as the AI Empowered (AIE) 2025 Summit unfolded, bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders, creatives, and the AI-curious.
Warp Development was thrilled to be a part of this gathering, not only as participants but as contributors shaping the conversation around practical AI implementation.
Warp Development Shares The Stage at AI Empowered
The two-day experience, hosted by EO Cape Town, created a vibrant platform for exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping business landscapes. With attendees engaging with 40+ speakers across 50+ sessions, the energy was palpable. Warp Development demonstrated how AI prototyping can reduce development cycles from months to days, showcasing real-world applications that resonated with business leaders looking for tangible solutions.
Our APAC Director, Mike Scott, and Head of AI, Gaurav Devsarmah, delivered compelling presentations that cut through the typical AI jargon to offer practical insights. Their sessions were particularly noteworthy for focusing on implementation rather than theory.
Revolutionising Business with AI Prototyping
Gaurav Devsarmah’s presentation, “Making Sense of AI to Generate Tangible Returns,” made a big impact. His mantra, “Docs convince. Prototypes close,” captured the essence of the prototype-first approach over traditional documentation-heavy methods.
“In the old way, we’d create a 30-page document, go through endless review cycles, and three months later, we might see our first demo,” Gaurav explained. “The new way? Operations or product managers build a clickable AI demo within 48 hours, customers react to a working prototype, and developers harden what already sells.”
The statistics he shared were compelling:
- Sales cycles reduced from 60-90 days to just 15-30 days
- Lower scope creep risk due to real feedback rather than assumptions
- Significantly enhanced customer “wow factor” through live, hands-on experiences
The Benefits of a Prototype First Approach
Gaurav’s presentation highlighted the “Prototype-First Flow,” a structured approach to creating and validating AI solutions:
- Sketch: Use natural language prompts to generate UI in v0
- Build Flow: Connect data with n8n or Pipedream
- Demo: Get immediate feedback from real users
- Reverse-Spec: Document what worked from actual usage
- Harden: Move to engineering with a validated approach
This methodology allows businesses to move from concept to working prototype in days rather than months.
How Warp Development Leverages Rapid Prototyping
Mike Scott’s session on “AI without the hype: How Business Builders Can Stay Original, Human, and Ahead” offered a grounded perspective that resonated deeply with business leaders tired of exaggerated claims. Mike shared practical examples of AI in business development that don’t require technical expertise, making his talk accessible to everyone in the room.
“AI is not magic—yet. And until it is, we need to give it the context it needs,” Mike emphasised, introducing the concept of context engineering. “We used to create and store data for humans. Now we need to do it for AI too.”
His practical advice included:
- Appointing a data champion in your business
- Selecting a folder of information to standardise for AI interaction
- Breaking down core processes to determine where AI fits and where humans still excel
Transforming AI in Product Design Through Prototyping
A key insight from Gaurav’s presentation was the “Tool Archetypes Map,” which categorises essential components for successful prototyping:
- UI Sketchers: For rapidly generating high-fidelity mockups from natural language prompts
- State Brains: Like Convex or Airtable for managing data persistence
- Flow Glue: Tools such as n8n or Pipedream for connecting services
- Logic Patch: Solutions for handling complex logic that no-code tools can’t manage
This framework provides a clear path for businesses seeking to integrate AI into product design, making the process more accessible and less intimidating.
The Warp Development Coffee Corner: Where Ideas Brewed
Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of our participation was the Warp Development coffee corner, where our team engaged with many business leaders over the two days. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee created the perfect backdrop for deeper discussions about implementing the concepts presented on stage.
“We didn’t just want to present ideas and leave,” explained our team. “The coffee corner allowed us to have meaningful conversations about specific challenges businesses are facing and how AI might help solve them.”
As the event drew to a close, it was clear that AI Empowered had succeeded in its mission to bridge the gap between AI theory and practice. The Warp Development team left Cape Town energised by the connections made and the potential partnerships formed.
The AI Empowered event provided a platform for meaningful discussions about the future of business and technology, and Warp Development was proud to be a contributing partner. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue the conversations started in Cape Town and help more businesses harness the power of AI through practical, prototype-first approaches.
