Position Description
We’re looking for a skilled IT Support Technician to join our Pretoria-based Managed IT Team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support to both employees and clients by monitoring and maintaining IT systems and networks. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining user systems, and managing client relationships to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Roles and responsibilities
- Provide onsite user support at various client locations.
- Offer remote support using tools like N-Central RMM.
- Set up new users, configure hardware, and install software.
- Troubleshoot workstation issues to ensure seamless operations.
- Manage email configurations, including new account setups.
- Perform Microsoft Active Directory and 365 maintenance, such as password resets.
- Maintain backups and ensure network stability (wi-fi and cable networks).
- Collaborate with other team members and external service providers for effective problem resolution.
- Collect and deliver stock items from suppliers when required.
Qualifications and skills
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of Windows Event Logs for troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of backup solutions, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with remote support tools (e.g., VPN, RDP).
- Proficiency in:
- Active Directory administration: user account setup, password resets, etc.
- Office 365 configuration and management.
- Server maintenance, health checks, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP and router configurations.
- Experience with server systems such as RAID and desktop operating systems.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in desktop support.
- At least 2 years’ experience in user support and maintenance.
Soft Skills & Other Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-presented with a client-focused mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Must possess a Matric certificate and a valid driver’s license with reliable transport.
- Certifications like A+, N+, MCSA are highly beneficial.
